yep! i am still here. barely hanging onto the small bit of me that still has time to craft, and scrapbook and create. the part of me that gets little sleep but dreams of the time when more of myself can be devoted to being busy making fun little creative things. oh, i am busily creating still, with four children, i am creating memories, shaping minds and giving love. my head is always a spinnin' though. and with school starting and all my kids off playing i thought it now a perfect time to get one of the things done on my ever growing crafty to do list. up date my design blog. check.

i designed digital scrapbook kits for a while and still have those delicious goodies in my shop, but i wanted a place where i could share ideas and show case creations. and so, i have evolved my blog into not just being a vehicle for my scrapbooking, but for all things my creative and busy little mind {and heart} want to share. i hope you like it. i hope you can find something here to inspire you. thanks for sticking with me (my blogger friends, followers and customers). u make my day.

oh, i have a year worth of projects and designs to share. but let me start slowly and post one of my favorite parties i helped host with one my gal pals. all the rage these summer soirees. when life hands you lemons, make lemonade right? who doesn't have a trial they aren't going through. the trick is though, to make the best of it, realize what you can learn from it, count your blessings and make some sweet lemonade.

So I bet you all think I have just disappeared? Well, I kind of have! I quit designing full time last year because I wanted to spend my time with my four sweeties and wonderful hubby. It was a good choice and they keep me extremely busy - but I LOVE IT!!! Time goes so fast and I only have them for a short time, so I want to savor it. But....once in a while I get an itch to design and a friend of mine just opened her store, grey avenue, so I was inspired to make a mini kit just for her grand opening. She makes super cute headbands and fabric hairpieces...you need to go take a look! Anyway...I hope you enjoy the mini kit below and that life has been good for you and continues to be just as good. I have neglected you my dear blog and all my faithful blog followers. I took a step back for a while. I have four little children and it is summer time. Busy time around here. I love being a mommy and want to focus on those precious short years I have with these kids. They grow too fast. I have been itching to get creative again though and made these fun little tabs for your summer pages. I also bought this lovely little dress for my eighteen month old and the colors scream "kit! kit! kit!" to me. A Tribute to Mom

Of course with it being Mother's Day this Sunday coming up I had to make a free kit in honor of it. I was thinking back with nostalgia to the warm childhood days snuggled in my mothers arms as she told me a story or shared memories from her past. I loved the smell of her, her warm embrace and those sweet and simple moments spent together. As she has aged and grown into a grandmother now, she has continued to share her wisdom and love with me and my children. She is a strong, beautiful and caring woman. The world certainly is a better because she has graced it. I love you Mom! I would love to hear tributes to other mothers as well, if you want to leave a comment here. Thank you! One of my favorite sayings is, "Embrace what is right in front of you, the here - the now! Enjoy today!" Not sure who it is from but it reminds me that there is always so much going on in our lives, we are all busy, right? I fret so much about the things I need to get done and the weekly projects to complete...well, it is important to stop thinking about tomorrow and live in the today and now. You never know what could happen between then. Make each moment count. Especially with kids, I really feel this. Suddenly you blink and your baby is eight, or five or three or one...it goes by too quickly to not want to cherish each moment! Have a fabulous day and have fun making memories and living life!!! My daughters both began the spring season of soccer and in honor of that, I have put up my soccer freebie again for you to grab. This is so sad and hard for me to do, but after much thought and prayer, I am retiring from designing and selling at ScrapMatters. I have bee plagued by computer troubles, children health concerns, and other family issues. I really like to commit myself 100% to what I do and I have felt very divided lately in being a mommy of four busy kids and doing what I love. I love my family more. ScrapMatters will continue to be my online home where I go for inspiration, to post my layouts, and buy amazing products. I am a huge fan and always will be. I have made some amazing friends and learned so much from the talent there and I hope you all will continue to be visitors there too. I am not disappearing. I am keeping this blog here and will post freebies and kits for sale - - once in a while. Hopefully someday, I can come back full steam. For now, I feel good about my choice. Thank you to my wonderful CT - they are a group of very talented and super sweet ladies! I love Valentine's Day. Of course you can say "I love you " everyday, but there is something just so fun and romantic about a day designated specifically for love. And it can be for whoever - not just the significant other...I have children, pets, parents, siblings, neighbors... there is lots of love to go around. This morning was especially sweet for me as the two men in my life were fighting over me...my hubby was hugging me and my son starts pulling at his leg (he is three), "Let go of my Mommy! I want to give here a hug!" And of course Dad plays along and I become a tug-o-war...it warmed my heart. Baseball bat anyone?

It looks like I will be out of commission as far as making new kits nad freebies - for who knows how long. I had a power surge on Thursday and somehow it messed up my drive (the one that holds all my kits and designing stuff) and scrambled all my folders...so I have pieces all over the place!!! >:( And my editing program (DIP) will no longer recognize any of my picture files... all of my scrapbooking stuff is stuck on the drive and I have no way of using any of it...I can't even get it to open without having corrupt image pop up all over the place!!! It is very frustrating...as I cannot upload any of my photos from my camera either. I have cried and cried all day! So tomorrow - we are completing cleaning off the entire computer - - erasing everything!...reformating and reloading everything back on. If it still doesn't work my program is corrupt. Anyway..sniff...sniff! I am not sure when or if I will be able to get back into designing for a while. I guess I will try and hope for the best tomorrow. :'( I can still email and send download links for kits and products purchased so please still take a look in my store and on my kits and freebies links. I just won't have anything new for a while. Sorry for both of us!

I love making Valentine cards and my new kit, Blissful Romance, is perfect for doing just that. Well, I also really like stamping embellishments and thought I would share this one with you. The stamp and sample card are included...and coordinate with my new kit. I know it is still early for Valentine's Day stuff, but it is sneaking up on us fast and if you have kids like I do, then it is good to have things done early. I am always so impressed with my ability to get along with only a few hours of sleep. My sweet son has been very ill the last three days and had a blood transfusion today. We are home now and he is asleep and though I am exhausted, have found my "creative" outlet a way to relieve stress and think about something else. And I really enjoy being part of this community and appreciate all the support and feedback I receive through comments and emails. Thank you! I love reading about everyone's birthday traditions...I hope you have had fun our our little birthday blog train so far... My family now has a fun little tradition that I married into and my children love it as much as I do. My husbands family is form Holland and so we sing the Dutch birthday song "Lan Sales a Laben" (sorry if I butchered that spelling) and do three hip hip horrays after the song. It is so fun to incorportate both sides traditions, especially ones from our ancestors and another part of the world. I feel like it helps us keep close those cherished loved ones memories and family traditions.

For those of you who visit often, I am usually not such a slacker and have fun things up most days. My daughter started school this past week and I have been trying to do some personal scrapping because I am getting behind. I also have three big projects I am working on: 1) I have had so many requests for another type of activity book. SO I am almost done with a shape one and will have an ABC one by the end of the month. If you are interested in those check back soon. 2) I am going to do another 7 day brag book giveaway. With it being Christmas coming soon, I am trying to do one for each month, as a gift for Grandparents or something. Again, hopefully by the end of the month. Okay, so the funny thing is I originally made this QP on it's side...so that the paper strips were down the middle and you had the pictures straight down the middle as well and then title on the side...but then I turned it and just liked this better...but you can do it either way, just rotate it and fill with your favorite pictures. The kit I used was "Summer Retro" and it along with my other regular priced kits are 40% off this week, so go take a peek! Wednesday Two Page Template

WOW! Already we are in the middle of the week! Five more days...and then my kids aren't really mine again. You know what I mean, they are mine, but I see them for only a small time in the morning during the mad rush to get ready for school and then a few short hours till bedtime. I love and hate school time! I keep thinking of all the wasted days and moments when I could have been doing something really "great" with my kids...you know the type of thing they remember years later and they talk about being something they loved. I just wish I had made good on all my thought about intentions and hopes. I guess as long as they know you love them, right? Thanks for letting me take your precious time by being reflective of my qualifications and accomplishments/failures as a mother. Notice I didn't even touch upon the wife title. Really, you can go on and on about the type of person you wish your were or you dream to be...but I guess I think as long as you are really trying to do your best at whatever it is you do, then that is what counts and will matter in the end. I love my kids and my husband more than anything...so if that means anything then I will succeed and hopefully my kiddos will be wonderful human beings. Again - thank you for being patient and I get to the real reason you are here - not to hear about my little corner of the world...I did a fun two page template today with six photo boxes. I get bored of doing them in greys and white so it is in trendy blue and brown. I hope you enjoy it. How was everyone's weekend? I look at my calendar and am saddened that the summer seems to be over. My kids start school in two and a half weeks and I am trying to cram so many fun things in...I guess half to ease my guilt that maybe I haven't done enough with them this summer and enjoyed the time we've had together, and partly because it has not been as hot outside lately. Okay, now for this fun kit. Dino-Mite Mini Kit Freebie

You would think by taking a look at my designs that I don't have a boy. Well, I do. The poor little man surrounded by girls all day long. Him and his Daddy are outnumbered and boy, do they stick together! So, it is a wonder that I don't design more boy kits. I know there are scrappers out there that just have boys only too and there aren't a ton of kits that cater to that. Or maybe I just seem to find all the really cute girl ones! ;) Frankly, though I am a tom boy myself, as a designer I just do better at the "girly" type kits and colors. I am gonna try to branch out a bit. My son loves anything boy and tough...he is into sports (as much as a two year old can) and loves cars, chasing his three sisters around and dinosaurs. I try my best and just hope my kids turn out to be beautiful and happy human beings inside and out. I have been on a huge black and white kick and was messing around with some patterns and overlays. Hi, I hope you are all having a WONDERFUL day! I loved my sisters "Sunset on the Beach" kit so much, that I decided to make a computer desktop calendar for you all as a FREEBIE! All you have to do is DL the calendar using THIS LINK and then open it in your editing program. Then just pick the pictures you want and slide them right behind the calendar image, flatten your image and then save it as a JPEG. Then just right click the file and select it to be your desktop image. Now you have a cute desktop with a calendar and plenty of room for all your icons...ENJOY!

I finished it, finally! I had the idea and colors swirling around in my head, but never had time till these past few days to get it done. I love the colors and I have to say all the time was worth it, because it turned out great! The colors remind me of late summer and relaxing on the beach. As promised - a long time ago, we are going to start doing cards and announcements here at Simply Sweet. So, if you want baby announcements done or wedding we can do that for you now. Tuesday Template Freebie

I am back...from vacation (if you want to call it that). I do enjoy camping, but for some reason taking four little kids (esp the 2yr old and 6mo old) was not as fun for me as I had hoped. It is a lot of work to provide fun times and good family memories. I was so worn out by the three days in the beautiful Uintahs I spent most of today huddled in bed with a migraine (thank goodness for kind mothers who help out). So, since I got so much sleep, I am still up and feeling much better...thankful to have the "vacation" behind me and yet thankful also for the wonderful time my kids said they had. And I had time to make a quick template. I am slowly working on a great new kit and it should be done tomorrow (fingers crossed). Anyway, thanks for the comments and well wishes as I continue to take it slow and step back from designing as vigorously as I did before, to enjoy the summer with my kids. I will be back more often soon (school starts -sniff- in three more weeks). Enjoy and please come back again soon!

Have you ever had one of those days where it seems like you have so many things to get done and do and you get started on one and then distracted and move onto another and it continues all day long till the end of the day you look around and nothing is really done...just a lot of half finished intentions? I had one of those days...it was pretty frustrating and I am not sure why, but I started thinking how fast the summer has gone by and I feel sad thinking my kids are going back to school soon. I really wish I had a few more hours, or could clone myself or something! Anyway, here is a quick template for you and an example of how I used it with my Sweet Berry Days kit. Monday Freebie & Changes

Okay, okay, so I know it is a little bit lame and not as creative for me to be offering this basic paper pack. But hey, one it is free, right? And two...I don't know if you are like me but often times I will be in the middle of a layout and all I need is a scrap of plain colored paper...so I have to go looking through my various kits to find one. So here, I thought you could use this. I am so excited to let you know too, my sister and I are going to start offering cards. We have been making our own and people love getting them and we even have friends and family that have now started ordering them from us. They turn out so cute and just as cheap as if you bought a pack in the store. So, we are getting some sets ready for sale and have a few freebies lined up too. You can print these at most places and they even provide an envelope. The possibilities with digital designs and scrapbooking are endless. Also, some for the freebies listed this past week are now no longer available for download (though there are lots more free treats in our freebie cupboards), but these ones have been added to our inventory under $1 Kits. That is still a great deal if you are interested. I know, we would love to just offer everything we make for you for free, but we are also SAHM's and need to validate the time we spend not with our kids - or sleeping! LOL. WOW, this post is getting long, sorry! I hope everyone had a great weekend. We are going to be making a few changes here and there this week to update our blog and organize things a little better. I am opening up comments asking a question for you to respond to if you have a minute. What is something you want to see more of and that you wish digi sites/blogs did a better job at doing or had more of, etc? This is kind of a bittersweet post for me to write. Sweet because I will now be spending more time on my family and with my children and bitter because I love to design and scrapbook and be in this community of other creative minds. My sister Kel and I had this vision in mind many months ago and really put a lot into making this site fun and creative and then slowly got into making kits too. It has been only three months (I know a short time), but the amount of work it required surprised us. Though we both live and breathe scrapbooking and being a creative energy, neither of us want to give up our day job (and night too :) of being full time wives and mothers. Yes, we are taking a break for a while. We will still post and add freebies and new kits, but not on a weekly basis like before. It was too much! I am the mother of four beautiful growing children and want to enjoy them while they are little and need me. There will be time later on in life that I can really pursue the things I want. But for now this chapter will have to wait for another time and is getting put on that shelf titled "Me and My Time". Yes, the shelf is gathering dust, but someday I will get to dust it off and immerse myself in "me". I just feel strongly that this time is for them and that it is far too precious to waste. I was spending so much time sitting in front of my computer, often at night when they had gone to sleep, but it was catching up to me during the day and I was getting tired and grumpy. I am also three months behind in my own scrapbooking. So, my sister and I decided that our family comes first and so we are departing from aggressively trying to get this blog up and going and popular. Offering freebies and kits will continue, but only once in a while...it will give me more time to work on it if I know there isn't a deadline or expectation from others. We want our loyal visitors, fans and customers to know how much we appreciate their comments and support. It really has meant a lot and inspires us for future success when we are ready to come back full-time. Yes, we will be here still and adding things every now and then, so please check back with us and enjoy our sale to clear inventory. If you would like to receive an email every time we update our blog or post something, please send your email address to us and we will add you to our growing list. I love the fourth of July here in the USA. I grew up in the Air Force and lived overseas on various bases. I experienced some amazing cultures and saw first hand the sacrifice these military men and women (and their families) make. I am very thankful for the freedoms my family and I can enjoy and for all those who sacrifice their time and even lives to defend those freedoms. How lucky and blessed we are!
